Imported Data into Merged Cells Displays in Single Cell

I have a fairly simple table; 4 rows and 4 columns. In row 1 I’ve merged all 4 columns as 1 cell, but when the data is imported from Google Sheets the data displays only in row1/cellA, breaking the rest of the table’s intended rendering. In my Google Sheets’ file the row 1 cells are merged as well. Am I missing something or is this just the way it works? There are other ways around this, like adding description or header, but these other options don’t give me the presentation I’m seeking.
